Grammy-winning Coldplay frontman Chris Martin was in a romantic relationship with indie film darling Dakota Johnson which reportedly ended after eight years.
Amid the recent breakup news, Martin gave a big shout-out to his speculated former love interest, Johnson, for her latest movie, Materialists, at Allegiant Stadium.
The 48-year-old singer shocked the sold-out crowd at his concert, putting the fans in a frenzy over the unexpected mention of his ex’s movie.
“Thank you so much, everybody,” the Fix You singer said in a video shared by Deuxmoi.
“Be kind to yourself, be kind to each other,” he said, then surprisingly added, “Don’t forget to see Materialists! We love you!”
The man recording the video said, “THEY’RE NOT BROKEN UP,” after Martin promoted the movie, while others disagreed.
“I can totally see him supporting her even after the breakup,” another person said.
“You can break up with someone and still be supportive. Look at him and GP,” said one fan, referring to the rock icon’s past successful relationship with ex-wife Gwyneth Paltrow.
Martin and Johnson, who began dating in 2017, didn’t confirm their relationship until some time later.
They kept their relationship alive for the past eight years and are now rumoured to have split, but nothing has been officially confirmed.
Meanwhile, Johnson’s recent rom-com movie Materialists will hit theatres on June 13, starring Pedro Pascal and Chris Evans in a love triangle with Johnson.
