Emmy-winning choreographer and two-time DWTS champion Julianne Hough shared her experience with reproductive health and going through fertility phases.
Hough shared an Instagram reel revealing her “Egg-Freezing Journey,” with her voiceover in the background on Saturday, June 7.
She expressed her hopes to have children and become a mother one day.
“Here we go,” Hough starts in the video, which shows the film actress’s 10-day course, where Hough is seen enthusiastically and positively dancing as she injects herself.
ABC’s Dancing with the Stars franchise star also shared moments of going to the doctor’s appointments.
On the eighth day, Hough mentioned that her “hormones were kicking in. My boobs are bigger. Everything is happening.”
Footloose lead added a long caption with the video, extending her thanks to Dr. Carolyn Alexander and her team at Southeast Crescent Regional Commission.
“Navigating fertility is never simple, especially with endometriosis and my own personal timeline and hopes around having children…” Hough wrote, “but with them, I’ve always felt safe, supported and fully informed,” she added, noting that this was now her third round of egg freezing.
Hough stated that it was her third round of egg freezing and acknowledged that, despite not being a publicly comfortable topic, she felt it was important to open up about these things.
“Women all over the world are quietly walking into doctors’ offices, making huge, brave decisions about their bodies and their futures,” she wrote, calling the process “one of the most vulnerable experiences… physically, emotionally, and for sure hormonally."
Furthermore, she highlighted that she wanted to be transparent with this phase.
“If sharing just a small piece of my journey helps someone feel less alone,” Hough wrote, “or inspires them to ask questions and explore what’s right for them, then I feel like it’s worth it.”
