Marvel’s Deadpool franchise is coming as a VR game from Meta Quest, set to launch in late 2025, starring Neil Patrick Harris' voice for the Merc with a Mouth.
The anticipated game is developed by Twisted Pixel and Oculus Studios, in collaboration with Marvel Games.
The hilarious trailer for the new VR game was released on Friday, June 6.
Marvel’s Deadpool VR is based on a new story that revolves around the Ryan Reynolds played character in the R-rated blockbuster film franchise.
The game description started as “after being pulled through a portal to Mojoworld, Deadpool sees a chance to get rich, like really rich. He signs a sketchy contract without reading any of the fine print and then it’s off to visit a bunch of locations from across the Marvel universe, battling against iconic (and not-so-iconic) villains. It’s real metaverse stuff—in the Marvel Universe sense, not the VR one.”
“Marvel’s Deadpool VR” will be out in late 2025 for Meta Quest 3 and 3S VR devices.
However, it's not the first time an iconic comic book character has been revived for a VR game, announced for Quest headsets. Last year games of Batman: Arkham Shadow gained positive reviews for reflecting the Arkham character into VR.
Moreover, Twisted Pixel has spent years creating a Deadpool-based VR game.
“It’s been a hot minute since Deadpool has been featured in his own game,” said Dan Bullock, Game Director at Twisted Pixel. "So we’re ecstatic to announce that we’ve been hard at work on getting him a breakout role in Marvel’s Deadpool VR.”
