After undergoing an intense bidding war, Netflix has claimed the rights to an adaptation of Dan Brown’s novel, The Secret of Secrets.

The showrunner will be Carlton Cuse, known for projects such as Lost, Jack Ryan and Locke and Key.

It will be set in the world of the sixth novel in the series, which follows Harvard professor of symbology Robert Langdon.

Brown and Cuse will be co-creators, writers and executive producers, with Emma Forman of Cuse’s Genre-Arts also acting as an executive producer.

The show is set for a September 9 release, following Langdon as he attempts to save a missing scientist and her groundbreaking manuscript.

While announcing the publishing date for his book, Brown called it “by far the most intricately plotted and ambitious book that I have ever written, and I also happen to think that it’s the most fun.”

The attention to detail may explain the significant gap between the last novel in the series, which includes Angels & Demons (2000), The Da Vinci Code (2003), The Lost Symbol (2009), Inferno (2013) and Origin (2017).
