King Charles is rolling in royal riches, at least, his personal bank account is looking a little shinier this year.
The monarch, 76, has seen a jaw-dropping $40 million boost to his fortune, pushing his estimated net worth to nearly $850 million, according to The Sunday Times Rich List 2024.
That figure lands him at No. 238 on the UK’s rich list. However, that nearly $1 billion net worth doesn’t include the royal bling many people assume is his.
As The Times notes, major assets like the Crown Estate and Duchy of Lancaster don’t count, they technically belong to the job, not the man.
“To consider these the King’s personal holdings would be akin to an executive viewing the office laptop or the company car parked on their driveway as their own,” the outlet explained.
Royal biographer Robert Hardman doubled down on this, saying: “Our monarchy really isn’t as wealthy as many people would believe. I certainly don’t think the King is a billionaire.”
Sandringham Estate and Balmoral Castle, two sprawling private royal residences that bring in extra income through tourism and even royal-branded products.
Sandringham alone is estimated to be worth $73 million, while Balmoral’s total land value hits a whopping $278 million.
Charles also likely inherited significant wealth from his late mother, Queen Elizabeth II, and father Prince Philip.
