King Charles made a rare admission about his health during a Buckingham Palace garden party this week, offering a glimpse into how he’s managing his cancer treatment.
The 76-year-old monarch, who has been undergoing treatment since his diagnosis last year, briefly opened up while speaking with a fellow cancer patient among the 7,000 guests invited to the event.
Stamford Collis, a 22-year-old international relations student at Exeter University who is currently battling cancer, later shared details of their conversation.
Collis revealed, "He [the King] was asking me about the treatment I have starting in June and spoke to me about food and diet. He also asked me if I had undergone radiation treatment, which I had earlier this year."
King Charles offered a small but powerful piece of advice, telling Collis, "It’s sometimes about the diet and what you eat. It can help."
Sources close to the royal family have previously suggested that Charles has made tweaks to his already health-conscious diet following his diagnosis.
Once known for often skipping lunch, the King now reportedly includes energy-boosting foods like avocado into his meals to support his health during treatment.
King Charles was diagnosed with an undisclosed form of cancer in February 2024 and has been undergoing regular treatment ever since.
After initially postponing public-facing duties for nearly 12 weeks, the monarch resumed a full schedule of engagements, including a demanding tour of Australia and Samoa.
Despite the brief hospital visit, a royal source indicated that King Charles’ treatment remains on track and that his planned state visit to Italy next month is still expected to proceed.
