Princess Kate followed in the footsteps of her late great-grandmother in her latest royal engagement. 

Buckingham Palace honoured the Princess of Wales after she presented The Queen Elizabeth II Award for British Design to Patrick McDowell at the British Fashion Council event in London.

In a new post on social media, King Charles' office released delightful photos from the fashion gathering with a statement, detailing the history behind The Queen Elizabeth II Award. 

As per the Palace's spokesperson, the award was first "presented by The late Queen at London Fashion Week in 2018, the Award recognises the role of British design and fashion in the country’s culture and trade."

"Each year, the Award is presented to an emerging British fashion designer who shows exceptional talent and originality, whilst demonstrating value to the community and strong sustainable policies."

The late monarch presented the first award to Richard Quinn in the presence of Anna Wintour at London Fashion Week.

"In 2019, The Queen (as Duchess of Cornwall) presented the Award to Bethany Williams. In 2020, The Princess Royal presented the Award to Rosh Mantani."

The Duchess of Edinburgh, who was the Countess of Wesses virtually presented Priya Ahluwalia with the Award in 2021. 

"In 2022, The Princess of Wales (as Duchess of Cambridge) presented the Award to Saul Nash. In 2023, The King presented Foday Dumbuya with the Award."

Last year, in 2024, Duchess Sophie presented the Award to Steven Stokey-Daley.
