After being ridiculed throughout the 2025 National Football League draft, Shedeur Sanders is finally getting some encouragement.
The son of NFL Hall of Famer, Deion Sanders, was projected by many to be selected in the top five of the first round of the draft.
However, he quickly became the lightning rod for mockery when neither of the 32 teams picked him in the first round.
The jokes intensified when the former Colorado Buffaloes quarterback was not selected in the second, third or even the fourth round.
The 23-year-old was finally selected by the Cleveland Browns in the fifth round with the 144th overall pick, which must have given him some relief considering he was in danger of heading to the 2025 season as an undrafted free agent.
However, the damage to Shedeur's reputation was done as many cited his apparent arrogance as the reason teams opted not to select him in the earlier rounds.
After being picked by the Browns, Shedeur finally received outside support from Young Thug.
The rapper took to X, formerly Twitter, to remind the young athlete that the GOAT himself, Tom Brady, was selected as the 199th overall pick in the 2000 NFL draft.
Thug’s words should resonate with Shedeur as being selected in the first round does not guarantee success in the NFL, just as being selected in later rounds does not mean the player is doomed to be a benchwarmer for the rest of his career.
As for Thug, he has been active on social media lately to promote his upcoming album, UY SCUTI.
Young Thug and his YSL associates were arrested in May 2022 for illegal firearm trafficking and possession.
The 33-year-old was released in October 2024 on a 15-year probation after making a plea deal.
