Prince Louis is turning seven this week but the milestone is bringing up some bittersweet emotions for mum Kate Middleton.
The youngest child of Prince William and Princess Kate, Prince Louis will celebrate his special day on Wednesday, surrounded by his close-knit royal family.
According to royal expert Jennie Bond, Kate is likely feeling "mixed emotions" about her cheeky youngest growing up so fast.
“I keep thinking Louis is a baby, but he’s a big boy now,” Kate once said during a maternity unit visit — a sentiment every parent can relate to.
Nicknamed “Lou-bugs” by his doting mum, Prince Louis is known for his mischievous royal charm, often caught pulling funny faces or getting cheeky at royal events, much to the delight of the public.
Bond told The Mirror that Kate and William may be a little more relaxed with their third child: “Catherine probably lets Louis run wild more than she did with George… Louis is the lastborn and that’s always a bit special.”
She added that each child holds a unique place in Kate’s heart, George, the heir; Charlotte, the only girl; and Louis, her “baby.”
While official birthday plans have been kept private, it’s expected that Kate will continue her sweet tradition of baking the birthday cake herself.
