Clodagh Rodger, known for representing Northern Ireland in the Eurovision Song Contest, has died, as confirmed by her son Sam Sorbie.

According to the Daily Mail, the renowned Northern Irish singer died peacefully on Friday following a three-year battle with severe illness.

Clodagh's son disclosed the news via Facebook post that reads, “With a heavy heart, my dear beautiful mum Clodagh has sadly passed away after battling an illness for the last three years. She passed away peacefully yesterday surrounded by her family in Cobham."

Sam continued, “Mum has lived an incredible life, full of love and happiness. Her fantastic career performing, travelling the world, devoting her life to her two sons and being the rock of this family."

“Life will not be the same without mum, but she will finally be at peace now with dad, nanny and pappa. We all love and miss her terribly,” the son concluded.

Clodagh Rodgers was best known for her Eurovision hit Jack in the Box (1971) and songs like Come Back and Shake Me (1969).

Clodagh's musical journey started at 13, singing professionally in her hometown of Warrenpoint. Her father was a dancehall promoter, and he played an important role in her early success.
