Lana Del Rey got candid about the real-life incident that inspired her new song Bluebird.
The Chemtrails Over The Country Club singer has recently swapped her pop hits for country ballads in her upcoming album, and Bluebird is no exception.
Lana, who co-wrote the song’s lyrics Luke Laird, took to her Instagram to share that the melody, along with the lyric “Little bird, bluebird /Fly away for both of us” was a result of an actual occurrence.
The Summertime Sadness hit maker began by recalling a time when she agreed to go for a walk with a romantic interest she hadn’t seen in a while, but she was still somewhat hesitant.
“And I said yes, and I started getting dressed, and all of a sudden a bird smacked into the double pane window doors of my bedroom, and I was shocked. I opened the little door and I saw this little, I think it was like a little sparrow, right there. And I just was so emotional," Lana noted of the day.
The 39-year-old then went to say that she perceived it as a sign from nature, before she opened the door to scoop the bird up in her hands.
Lana continued, “And I remember, just right before I could even think, I just sat there, and I just sang 'little bird fly away' for both of us. I was just kind of tearing up for myself and for the bird."
The Video Games singer then informed her followers that the bird eventually flied away, but not without leaving a mark on the singer.
No, the West Coast singer released her very first single from the album, on April 11, titled Henry, Come On.
