Lizzo revealed the truth behind her vanishing from the public eye after her former tour dancers sued the Truth Hurts singer.

The 36-year-old was referring to the incident which occurred in August of 2023, where her on-stage crew accused her of creating a hostile work environment, along with sexual and racial harassment.

However, the About Damn Time singer told Jay Shetty on his podcast, On Purpose, that her withdrawal was intentional.

"I had planned on being off cycle. That means you're not in the media, you're not doing interviews. Your album cycle is done, and I think the best, most simplest answer as to why I am back now is 'cause my album's done. This is my job, you know, I am a musical artist," Lizzo said.

She then went on to address the controversy, adding that she wasn’t hiding, only that her album cycle had ended.

"This was planned... I'm in Japan, I'm in the woods, I'm meditating, and oh, this scandal just happened. Where's Lizzo?," she recalled. "So I'm aware of that. I'm cognizant of it and I'm up for the challenge of explaining this to the people who care about me cause they deserve to know, honestly."

The Good As Hell singer also recalled to Jay that the weight of the charges landed her in a “dark” place and even caused her “first panic attack ever.”

Lizzo maintains her innocence in the ongoing lawsuit, despite her dismissal filing in 2024 being denied.
