The Melee community is mourning the loss of a legend.
Esports legend Aziz Al-Yami, better known as Hax, sadly passed away on Tuesday.
A GoFundMe fundraiser has been organised by Jeanette Ustin. According to the page, Hax passed away on March 25 at 7:09 AM. The organiser of the page thanked Hax’s supporters and asked for prayers for the late Smash Pro.
The cause of death is unknown at the time of writing and no further information has been shared by Hax’s family.
Since the announcement of his death, the Melee community flooded social media with “RIP HAX” trending on X, formerly Twitter.
Fans expressed utter grief at Hax’s passing but some also blamed the Melee community for banning him over past controversies.
In 2021, Hax was banned from the Melee Online Discord server, which is among the biggest online Smash communities. He was accused of making fun of fellow Smash Pro Cody "iBDW" Schwab's story of abuse.
Back in October, Hax posted a YouTube video where he shared his personal struggles. The pro-gamer talked about his controversies and took accountability for his actions.
The Super Smash Bros. icon further revealed that he had been making educational videos to help the Melee community in an effort to make amends.
The gamer concluded the video with a promise to his fans to be a role model after a disappointing last couple of years. Hax also expressed his appreciation for the Melee community.
