Meghan Markle’s latest Netflix venture has sparked mixed reactions, but now one of her closest friends is setting the record straight on what she really thinks about With Love, Meghan.
The Duchess of Sussex’s new lifestyle series, which premiered earlier this month, sees Meghan, 43, hosting and cooking for various celebrity friends. While fans have praised the show, Meghan has also faced significant criticism, particularly in the UK media.
Now, actress Abigail Spencer, a longtime friend of Meghan’s and her former Suits co-star, has shared her honest thoughts on the series.
Abigail, who has been close to Meghan since 2007, was among the select celebrity guests featured in the show.
Speaking to Hello!, Abigail raved about Meghan’s natural hosting skills, saying:
"Meghan is the hostess with the most. Literally for years she has been like this."
She continued, "But I really was there just to support her and surround her. This is her heart, that show is her heart. It was so natural, and [I was] really just there to have fun and to delight in her and to be a safe space. I think that comes through."
Meghan’s new show features her "reimagining the genre of lifestyle programming” along with her celebrity friends as they roll “up their sleeves in the kitchen, the garden, and beyond, and invite you to do the same”.
The series is part of Meghan and Prince Harry’s multi-year deal with Netflix, which they signed in 2020. The eight-part lifestyle series will mark Meghan’s return to her roots, featuring hosting and entertaining tips while welcoming celebrity friends on the show.
