Gene Hackman’s daughter speculates about cause of death

Gene Hackman, beloved Oscar winning actor, and his wife, Betsy Arakawa were found dead in their home in New Mexico along with their dog.

Santa Fe County Sheriff’s spokesperson stated that they did not suspect foul play and the cause of death is yet to be determined.

His daughter, Elizabeth Jean Hackman, spoke to TMZ about the tragic passing and claimed that although they still don’t know what happened, they suspect that toxic fumes like carbon monoxide poisoning may have been behind what happened.

Hackman shared Elizabeth, along with two other children, Christopher and Leslie with his former wife, Faye Maltese.

A report from TMZ claims that Sheriff Adan Mendoza said the authorities had come to the property for a welfare check where they discovered the deceased, with two dogs still alive. They also stated that they were suspected to have passed a day before they were found.

Hackman said in a previous interview that he wished to be remembered as a "decent actor" and "someone who tried to portray what was given to them in an honest fashion."

Summing up his life, he added, "'He tried.' I think that'd be fairly accurate."
