Popular American reality TV star and supermodel Kendall Jenner has landed herself into hot waters on the internet as she has been accused of cultural appropriation in new tequila ad.
The 25-year-old socialite, who has currently been promoting her new tequila brand 818, faced backlash over the photo and video promos of her brand. The ad featured the model riding on horseback among rows of agave plants on a farm in Mexico, and sipping tequila on the back of a pickup truck.
The Keeping Up With The Kardashians star can be seen wearing jeans, a cowboy hat and a loose cotton shirt over a tank top in the ad.
The video of the ad did not settle well for some internet users as they referred to her look as “tone-deaf” and “migrant chic.”
Earlier in the week, Jenner shared the new branded content on her personal Instagram account, and wrote: “incredible experience I have had thus far, learning about this beautiful place, its beautiful culture, and the beautiful people!”
Jenner ultimately disabled the comments under the photos on her Instagram.
