Queen Elizabeth paid rich tribute to the ‘wonderful’ efforts of Commonwealth volunteers during a video call last week, the Royal Family said.

The Royal Family official Instagram handle shared a photo of Her Majesty during the video call and wrote, “This week, The Queen spoke to three winners of the Commonwealth Points of Light award to celebrate their achievements.”

Each week Her Majesty awards one volunteer from across the Commonwealth with a Points of Light award in recognition of their outstanding initiatives, the statement further said.

According to the statement, the Queen spoke to music teacher Nikoletta Polydorou from Cyprus whose initiative provides free music lessons and instruments to children from challenged communities. 45 children performed to celebrate The Queen’s recent Wedding Anniversary - The Queen’s first ever virtual musical performance!

Ruy from Mozambique took The Queen on her first ever virtual tour to show his soup kitchen which fed 6,000 people a day during the pandemic.

Queen also spoke with Len from Trinidad and Tobago, a turtle conservationist whose work has transformed the country into one of the world’s densest leatherback sea turtle nesting sites.
