Jason Momoa has recently been making headlines for departing one of PlayStation Productions and Sony’s upcoming video game adaptation of Helldivers.

Deadline reports that the project, which is based on Arrowhead Game Studios’ video game franchise, will be directed by Justin Lin.

The reason for Jason’s departure is not known as of yet as his casting was announced by Sony in February.

After his exit, Justin and Sony are actively searching for a new star before the production starts.

According to plotline, Helldivers movie is an adaptation of the 2015 game and its sequel that have sold more than 12 million units.

The game reportedly centers on Helldivers – a squad of elite soldiers who must protect Super Earth from an alien attack.

Produced by Justin, Hutch Parker and Asad Qizilbash, the sci-fi movie is expected to have a theatrical release on November 10, 2027.

It seems that Jason has a lot on plate this year including Warner Bros’ Supergirl, expected to release in theatres on June 26.

Other movies such as Street Fighter and Dune: Part Three, starring the actor, will also release later this year.

Meanwhile, Jason has upcoming projects like A Minecraft Movie: Squared, which is a follow-up to his hit Minecraft.

Another movie is Animal Friends, alongside Ryan Reynolds, set to release in 2027.
