Nicolas Cage recently shared his thoughts on being typecast in Hollywood.

The Oscar winner revealed that he always avoided taking up one villain or hero role throughout his career.

While speaking to PEOPLE at the Spider-Noir premiere at the Regal Times Square in New York City on May 13, Nicolas said, “I've played plenty of villains and heroes. I like both. I think they're both important parts of cinema.”

“I would not want to get trapped into doing one thing,” admitted the 62-year-old.

Elsewhere in the interview, Nicolas explained why rejected Sam Raimi’s directed Spider-Man role in the early 2000s.

For the unversed, the American actor decided to turn down playing Green Goblin and decided to star in 2002’s Adaptation.

“I decided to do another movie, a much smaller noir of sorts, more romantic than tragic noir,” he told the outlet.

However, the Ghost Rider actor remembered saying to Sam, “I hope whoever you cast [as Spider-Man] really embraces the arachnid body language, at least for one moment. Alone in his apartment, he's crawling on the ceiling or something.”

Meanwhile, the Green Goblin went to Willem Dafoe while Tobey Maguire starred as Spider-Man at the time.
