Ed Sheeran recently revealed the real reason behind rejecting his collaboration with the gaming giants, Fortnite.
The Shape singer shared that he was approached by the gaming management about emulating Travis Scott’s success on the platform during an appearance on Warnes Way podcast.
Therefore, Ed admitted that he declined the opportunity.
Elsewhere on the podcast, the Photograph crooner shared that he preferred authentic collaborations.
Ed mentioned that unlike Fortnite, he plays Pokémon, and this preference led to his 2022 collaboration with The Pokémon Company, which led to Pokémon-themed music video for his song, Celestial.
“They asked me to do something for Fortnite, my record label, and I was like… ‘I don’t play Fortnite,” explained the 35-year-old.
The Perfect singer remarked, “I feel like whenever you see my face next to any product, I want it to be next to something I actually do.”
“So, when my record company were like ‘oh, we can put you in a Fortnite game’, I was like, [I] don’t really want to do that, but I do play Pokémon,” pointed out the English singer.
Ed added, “And we contacted Pokémon, and that’s why we did the song for the thing. I love Pokémon.”
