Paapa Essiedu has opened up about the upcoming British drama series Babies, and what the actor hopes will happen when the themes of the show are explored.

The Stefan Golaszewski helmed series revolves around a young couple suffering from pregnancy loss and the way it molds their dynamic afterwards.

In an interview published by BBC, the British actor shared, “"If it makes one person able to talk about pregnancy loss when they previously couldn't, I think the show will have been a success."

Paapa went on to reveal that since the subject was uncharted territory for him, he worked with idwives and specialists to understand it better.

"I'm not a parent and I've never been around someone giving birth so I found it incredibly informative,” the 35-year-old added.

The Harry Potter actor also reflected on the taboo-ness of the topic and attributed it to there being sensitivity around grief and asking questions which tend to isolate the individuals that are suffering.

Babies has garnered positive early reviews from critics, who are hailing it for the exploration of a rarely explored topic and the emotionally raw portrayal of it by the actors.
