Niall Horan opened up about the how 90s music helped him shape his new album, Dinner Party.
In conversation with the NME magazine the This Town singer shared that he heard a lot of Radiohead tracks for the opening song of his album, Taste So Good, and drew inspiration the band’s lead singer Thom Yorke’s melodic and vocal style.
"I listened to a lot of Radiohead making this and drew from Thom Yorke’s melodic standpoint of not having many words in a phrase," he said. "I was just trying to drag the phrase out with not a lot of words. Usually I would try and fit in as many words as possible."
The Irish singer also praised, Yorke’s signature delivery, which helped guide the album’s mood.
Horan added, "I just like the drawly-ness of Thom Yorke’s vocal… maybe ‘drawl’ is the wrong word, but the way he elongates everything, it sounds darker and deeper. I mean, obviously Thom Yorke is an absolute genius."
His new album, Dinner Party is set to be released on June 5. He has also confirmed that he’ll be back on the road this year, announcing his Dinner Party Live On Tour in support of the LP.
