Jesy Nelson shares heart‑tugging moments of twin daughters

Jesy Nelson has offered a poignant update on her eight‑month‑old twin daughters, Ocean Jade and Story Monroe, sharing new pictures of the babies fitted with leg splints as they continue their battle with a rare neuromuscular disorder.

Nelson first revealed in January that both girls had been diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy Type 1 (SMA1), a severe genetic condition that progressively weakens muscles and can be life‑threatening without early treatment. 

According to Daily Mail, doctors told her the twins may never walk and could face long‑term physical challenges.

In a recent Instagram post, the former Little Mix star showed the tiny splints designed to flatten her daughters’ inward‑turning feet, describing the moment as “really sad” but also sharing the adorable detail that one pair is decorated with hearts and the other with butterflies.

Nelson has openly documented the joys and struggles of parenthood online, from the twins’ time in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit after their premature May 2025 birth to the ongoing demands of their care. 

Despite the heartbreak, she said she wants to use her platform to increase awareness about SMA1 and push for expanded newborn screening.

As per the outlet, her supporters have rallied around her candid updates, as Nelson balances her role as a mother with campaigning for better early detection of the condition and continuing to film her Amazon Prime documentary series about her journey.
