American veteran journalist and social activist Gloria Steinem has marked her 92nd birthday on March 25.

For the unversed, Steinem became an influence to advocating for women's rights throughout decades proved herself as a trailblazer.

Her career kicked off as a journalist, before she instituted her own magazine to give rise to her own keen perspective.

This was to openly integrate various women's rights organisations, the outlet discussed reproductive rights, pay equity and gender based equality.

In 1971, she joined the co-foundation of Ms. Magazine that was the first American female magazine.

In the same year, she was involved in the founding of the National Women Political caucus.

The most prominent voices of second-wave feminism, was born on March 25, 1934 in Toledo, Ohio to Ruth and Leo Steinem.

It is worth noting that star married at the age of 66 with David Bale, Christian Bale’s father in 2000 for a brief three-year marriage.

Steinem by choice was childless as she revealed her view about it on Chelsea, “It's a choice and it's a wonderful choice. But if everyone has to do it, then it's no longer a choice."

She went on to note, "As somebody said, 'Not everybody with a womb has to have a child like not everybody who has vocal cords has to be an opera singer.'”

Steinem was honoured in March 2026, on the occasion of the International Women Day to be part of the closing bell ceremony alongside Paris Hilton at the NYSE.
