Miley Cyrus ‘willed’ Hannah Montana special into existence

Miley Cyrus has admitted she practically magicked the Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special into existence, and loved every minute of revisiting her Disney past.

The 33-year-old pop icon, who starred as the titular teen between 2006 and 2011, revealed the new special was a personal passion project. 

Speaking to Extra, Miley said: “It's pure joy, excitement, and celebration. This special really is a gift not only to the fans, but for myself as well. It's really an honour to celebrate this evolution.”

In fact, the songstress was so determined she played a pivotal role in convincing Disney to green-light the special. 

She even started promoting the anniversary long before the studio had any plans, inspired by advice from none other than Dolly Parton. 

“If you want something to happen, promote it before it exists. Then no one can say no,” she told Variety.

It's worth noting that her passion for Hannah Montana isn’t just nostalgia but it’s a fan-driven mission. 

The Flowers hitmaker has been inundated with messages and gifts from fans asking about another season, prompting her to send fan reactions straight to Disney. 

A Disney executive, Charlie Andrews, explained: “She willed it into existence. The thing she was adamant about is that this is for the fans. That has gone into literally every decision she has made.”

As for a reboot, Miley is keeping her cards close to her chest.
