Rose Byrne has revealed it was tough to play mean to A$AP Rocky in her new comedy-drama, If I Had Legs I’d Kick You.
The 46-year-old actress, speaking to Britain’s HELLO! magazine, gushed about her co-star.
“I knew Rocky’s music and, obviously, he’s in an extraordinarily high-profile relationship, but he’s so talented. He couldn’t have been sweeter, she said.
He worked very hard, and he has a supernatural charm. But my character had to be mean to him, which I found really hard because he was so nice.”
Byrne stars as Linda, a mother trying to juggle her career as a therapist while caring for her daughter, who is battling a severe eating disorder.
After a devastating flood destroys their home, the pair are forced to relocate to a quirky motel run by James, played by 37-year-old Rocky.
Bridesmaids actress added a lighthearted note about the cast eagerly anticipating a visit from Rocky’s partner, singer Rihanna on set.
She met with mothers of children with special needs to prepare for her role, a process that “forever changed” her perspective on parenting.
Byrne, who shares sons Rocco, nine, and Rafa, eight, with actor Bobby Cannavale, admitted parenthood is tougher than any acting challenge.
“It’s the hardest thing you’ll ever do. The role of your life is to be a parent,” the Golden Globe winner with a stellar career told Love Sunday.
