Sarah Paulson has poured her heart out in support of her best friend Amanda Peet.

The 51-year-old actress praised her deeply moving essay about battling breast cancer while coping with heartbreaking family loss.

The American Horror Story favourite took to Instagram to celebrate Amanda’s raw and emotional piece, published by The New Yorker.

She called it “profoundly gorgeous” and urging fans to read, or even listen to the powerful story.

The 54-year-old actress’ essay reveals a devastating chapter in her life, as she was diagnosed with breast cancer while both her parents were in hospice care.

After a routine check-up in August 2025, the Saving Silverman actress was sent for further tests, leading to the shocking discovery of a tumour.

In a brutally honest account, Amanda described the emotional rollercoaster of waiting for results, even as she rushed to be with her dying father, only to arrive moments too late.

“As soon as my dad’s corpse was out of sight, I was free to panic about my cancer again,” she wrote.

The ordeal didn’t end there, as while grappling with her diagnosis, Brockmire star and her sister made the painful decision to shield their mother, who was in the final stages of Parkinson’s disease, from both the cancer news and her ex-husband’s death.

There was a glimmer of hope when doctors confirmed her cancer was treatable, though fears returned after a second mass was discovered.

Thankfully, it proved benign, meaning she would avoid chemotherapy.

But tragedy struck again just weeks later, as her mother passed away.

Through it all, Sarah has stood firmly by her side, and now wants the world to hear Amanda’s extraordinary story.
