Chappell Roan sparks controversy over hotel fan incident in São Paulo

Chappell Roan, who has spoken publicly about setting firm boundaries with fans, faced criticism after an encounter at a São Paulo hotel left an 11-year-old girl in tears.

The 28-year-old singer was staying at the same hotel as former Chelsea and Arsenal star Jorginho’s family ahead of her Lollapalooza Brazil headline.

In a long Instagram Stories message, he said his daughter had been excited to see the singer and had even made a sign for her earlier that day.

During breakfast, she briefly walked past the Good Luck, Babe! hitmaker table to check if it was really her before returning to her mother.

“I don’t know at what point simply walking past a table and looking to see if someone is there can be considered harassment,” he wrote.

He alleged that a member of Roan’s security team approached and accused the family of allowing the child to “disrespect” and “harass” the singer. 

The confrontation left his daughter “extremely shaken” and in tears.

Moreover, he said the guard threatened to report the family to hotel management.

“I understood the need for personal boundaries but this response was excessive,” he added, describing the episode as “sad” because his daughter had only been admiring someone she recognised.

The New York Post reported that the child involved appeared to be Ada Law, daughter of Jorginho’s wife Catherine Harding and actor Jude Law.

Additionally, Jorginho concluded his note, mentioning, he hoped the episode would prompt reflection to her fans, stressing that “no child should have to go through such an experience.”
