Barry Keoghan is speaking out about handling online hate and criticism.
The 33-year-old star of Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man appeared on SiriusXM’s The Morning Mash Up and opened up about how online criticism on his looks weighs on him.
On Friday, March 20, in an interview with host Ben Harlum, he shared, "There's a lot of hate online. It's a lot of abuse of how I look."
He highlighted the positive side of fame, noting that he has devoted fans and kind followers, but also recognizing the harsh side.
Meanwhile, he added that it bothers him that his 3-year-old son Brando, whom he shares with former girlfriend Alyson Sandro, may read such criticism in the future.
According to him, he has stepped back from being online. "But I'm still a curious human being that wants to go on," he said.
He explained that online hate impacts his everyday life. Attending events or going out often feels unpleasant, and it has made him retreat and keep to himself.
Moreover, he admitted online hate is starting to affect his acting and is making him avoid appearing on screen.
Notably, Barry Keoghan is currently shooting The Beatles - A Four-Film Cinematic Event, in which he stars as Ringo Starr.
