Ryan Reynolds revealed how he got know about co-star Sandra Huller secret talent and how he persuaded her to show it off in the film.
In the sci-fi movie, Project Hail Mary, Huller plays a serious, no-nonsense scientist Eva Stratt, while, Gosling plays science teacher and an astronaut Ryland Grace.
During filming on an aircraft carrier, the Barbie star overheard The Anatomy of a Fall actress singing to herself in the hallway and was stunned by her voice.
Being mesmerised by her vocals, he immediately pitched the idea of adding a karaoke moment for her character.
He told the Entertainment Weekly, "I was like, 'Please, we're doing a karaoke scene. Please, please sing.' She said, 'I'll think about it.'"
Recalling the moment, Gosling shared that she agreed but on only one condition, she will choose the song on her own.
Huller than picked Harry Styles Sign of the Times and even checked with her daughter to make sure if it wasn’t an “uncool mom music” for the 84-year-old.
The Notebook actor continued, " It was a perfect song choice as well because it ends up becoming part of the trailers and the whole spirit of the movie."
The directors, Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, loved the idea because it humanises Strat, a normally distant person.
Joining the conversation, Huller also shared that she used to write and record music back when she was young and even released an album years ago that is still out online somewhere.
Project Hail Mary released on March 20 also features songs like Stargazer – Neil Diamond and Two Of Us – The Beatles and many more.
