Veteran actor Ed Bernard, who has appeared in the basketball series White shadow in the 1970s has died at the age of 86.
Bernard passed away on January 23 in Northridge, California his family confirmed it, however, no cause was disclosed.
The Philadelphia native first appeared on screen in the 1971 blaxploitation Superfly and went on to play the part of undercover cop Joe Styles in Police Woman opposite Angie Dickinson in 90 episodes between 1974 and 1978.
He has since appeared in The White Shadow a TV series starring Ken Howard of over 30 episodes.
He had a long television career that dates back to decades with credits including Mannix, Kojak, Mork and Mindy, T.J Hooker, Doogie Howser M.D, and NYPD blue.
He made his last screen appearance in two episodes of CBS crime drama, Cold Case back in 2005.
The family of Bernard recalled him as a foodie and a man of faith who loved sushi and healthy food in a statement.
He is survived by his sons Edward and Mark Bernard, a number of grandchildren and his 44-year-old wife Shirley Mae Bernard.
