Kristen Dunst is on a cloud 9 after she received role in the upcoming Minecraft 2.
Few months ago, she shared that she would love star in A Minecraft Movie.
To announce the big news of her starring as Alex, she took to her Instagram page, with caption, "My dream came true [fire], [leg piece]."
In the first film, Alex was voiced by Saturday Night Live alum Kate McKinnon. Dunst's character was teased in the post-credits scene of A Minecraft Movie.
The Spider-Man actress said that she wanted to be part of the project, because her interest comes from children’s love for A Minecraft Movie.
The film follows four misfits who are transported through a portal into a blocky world set out on a journey to find their way home.
In addition to Dunst, fans are eagerly waiting to see the original cast of the first film, including Jason Momoa, Jack Black, Danielle Brooks and more, return for the sequel.
A Minecraft Movie premiered in theatres in April 2025 and it instantly became a box office hit. The film, which is based on the popular video game franchise, earned close to $1 billion.
Minecraft 2 is slated for release on July 23, 2027.
