Gayle King has made a startling confession that she simply can’t stand buttons, admitting the everyday clothing staple gives her “the creeps”.
The 71-year-old CBS Mornings host opened up about her unusual phobia during a candid conversation with Sarah Jessica Parker and chef Ruth Rogers at a New York event celebrating Rogers’ new book.
“I do not like buttons,” Gayle laughed, before clarifying she meant the ones found on clothing.
“They give me the creeps. I never wear things that have buttons.”
While zips and snaps are perfectly fine, it’s the “little white tiny buttons” she just can’t handle, and she has no idea why.
“I don’t know where it comes from, but I just don’t like them,” she admitted.
It's worth noting that the quirky revelation isn’t new.
The reality star previously shared her dislike back in 2013, explaining that while it may sound odd, everyone has something that unsettles them.
“I just don’t like how they feel,” she said, noting she avoids buttoned outfits wherever possible or ensures they’re covered.
Interestingly, she does make an exception for larger “big brass” buttons, like those on jeans, which don’t bother her quite as much.
And she’s not the only star with a surprising fear.
Her close friend, media mogul Oprah Winfrey, has long struggled with a fear of balloons, revealing they remind her of gunfire.
