Afroman has spoken out after winning a closely watched defamation lawsuit filed by Ohio police officers over his viral music video Lemon Pound Cake.

The case stemmed from a 2022 police raid on the artist’s home, which yielded no criminal charges. In response, Afroman used surveillance footage from the incident to create satirical songs and videos mocking the officers’ actions.

According to People, the deputies later sued him, seeking nearly $4 million in damages, alleging defamation, emotional distress, and invasion of privacy.

However, a jury ultimately ruled in Afroman’s favor on all counts, determining that his work was protected under free speech laws.

Following the verdict, the rapper publicly celebrated the decision, describing it as a victory not just for himself but for artistic expression.

Moreover, he maintained that the lawsuit arose from the officers’ own actions during the raid, which he has consistently criticized as wrongful.

Afroman also defended his decision to turn the footage into music, explaining that the videos helped raise funds to repair damage caused during the search.

As per the outlet, the case has drawn widespread attention for its implications on free speech, parody, and the right to critique public officials.
