'Virgin River' star Ben Hollingsworth opens up on co-stars’ shocking exits

Ben Hollingsworth shares his thoughts on the shocking departure of Lauren Hammersley and Marco Grazzini from romantic drama series, Virgin River.

Speaking to the media, the Canadian actor revealed that the cast learned of the news about a month ago after being personally informed by Patrick Sean Smith.

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, he said, “He didn’t want us to find out from an article.”

He added that he immediately contacted Marco to offer his support. “I let him know how much the show won’t be the same without him, and how much he meant to all of us,” he shared.

Moreover, he expressed excitement for Marco’s future, calling this “just the start of great things” for him.

After the premiere of Virgin River season 7 on March 12, Patrick Sean Smith explained why Lauren and Marco won’t return for season 8.

“I’m focused on the longevity of the show and making sure the characters we’re keeping have enough story to keep going,” he told Deadline.

The showrunner added that as some characters finish their journeys, it’s natural to bring in “new blood.”
