Acclaimed actress Hilary Duff candidly gave a rare insight into her early years and her relationship with her mother.

Following the debut of her album Luck…Or Something, the 38-year-old singer has been reflecting on her personal life, including her distance from sister Haylie Duff.

During Mythical Kitchen's Last Meals with Josh Scherer, the Lizzy McGuire alum said her mother moved the family to Hollywood but never pressured her or her sister to pursue acting or music.

She stated, "I was never pushed into acting or pushed into singing. My mom, you know, knew that my sister and I loved performing."

She continued, "And so when you see that in your kid, or you see them like you're geared towards sports, I understand giving that, what your kids are interested in, giving that energy."

Moreover, the Roommates songstress told, she now uses a similar mindset while raising her kids, Luca and Banks, encouraging their love for sports and dance.

During her early years, she mentioned that public perception was very different. While some assumed she had a stage mom or questioned her family’s actions, she knew from the start what she wanted to achieve in the industry.

Speaking about her mother, Hilary expressed deep gratitude, noting that although she wouldn’t follow everything her parents did, but she is grateful for all the things they did well.
