Kieran Culkin receives Sean Penn Oscar as he ditched the award ceremony.

The 43-year-old did not spare the veteran artist for failing to show up to the 2026 Academy Awards.

While he was on stage to present the award of Best Supporting Actor, the Home Alone star once named the winner realized the 65-year-old man was no where to be found.

"Sean Penn couldn't be here this evening. Or didn't want to" Culkin said in a jest at the time leaving audience in stitches.

He instantly took the decision of grabbing the award himself, "So I'll be accepting the award on his behalf."

Meanwhile, it has been reported that Penn was in Ukraine, where he has been an active supporter of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy since the 2022 invasion by Russia.

Conan O'Brien also took the advantage of his absence as well, "We had a no-show in Sean Penn," he joked.

In addition, the 62-year-old American host and comedian added, "This thing's a humdinger you've got to stay tuned!"

The victory of One Battle After Another by Penn marked  his third Oscar to the best actor awards for his role in Mystic River, 2003, and Milk, 2008.

The Into the Wild star was earned over nominees Benicio del Toro, Delroy Lindo, Stellan Skarsgard, and Jacob Elordi.

The movie itself was a huge win in general as well as Best Picture and Best Director on the part of Paul Thomas Anderson.
