Bad news for Buffy fans! The revival series, Buffy the Vampire Slayer: New Sunnydale was reportedly cancelled at Hulu and won’t move at the streamer.

The OG star of Buffy series Sarah Michelle Gellar shared the sad news with her fans on March 14 about the cancellation of the reboot.

Now, industry insider revealed to Deadline that the pilot was “not perfect”.

The source shared that the series’ director Chloe Zhao, was also questionable.

It is reported that the Hamnet movie-maker’s “sensibility may not have been the perfect match for the reboot”.

At Disney, Chloe previously directed another genre project based on famous IP, Marvel’s Eternals, which underperformed both with critics and box office.

The source further said that the executives apparently are “still high on the Buffy IP and have “plans to regroup and mull a possible new incarnation of the beloved franchise”.

Meanwhile, Sarah was left shocked with the streamer’s decision to pass on the show at this stage.

For those unversed, the original Buffy the Vampire Slayer started in 1992, which was written by Joss Whedon.

The news came a year after the streamer ordered a pilot for the project, tentatively titled Buffy: New Sunnydale.
