Teyana Taylor compares her parenting style to ‘Hannah Montana’

Teyana Taylor says motherhood requires her to balance two very different worlds, something she jokingly compares to the life of Hannah Montana.

Speaking at the TIME Women of the Year Gala in West Hollywood, the 35-year-old star explained that her daughters understand how she shifts between celebrity life and everyday motherhood. 

Taylor shares two daughters, Iman “Junie” Tayla Shumpert Jr., and Rue Rose Shumpert, with her ex-husband, former NBA player Iman Shumpert.

According to Taylor, when she is at home she is completely in “mommy mode,” doing normal family activities like cooking, drawing and visiting trampoline parks with her children. 

But when work calls, she transforms into what she describes as “carpet mommy,” stepping onto red carpets and into the spotlight.

Despite the contrast, Taylor says her daughters have learned to navigate both sides of her life with ease. 

According to People, she praised her eldest daughter Junie for being humble and considerate, calling her a “leader” who doesn’t rely on her mother’s fame.

At the same time, she said both girls can confidently pose for photographers when they accompany her to events.

One recent moment captured fans’ attention when little Rue helped adjust Taylor’s gown on the red carpet, showcasing the close bond between the star and her children.

Taylor is currently enjoying a major career moment, earning a Best Supporting Actress nomination at the upcoming Academy Awards for her role in One Battle After Another.
