Colleen Hoover reveals why she publicly announces her cancer diagnosis

It Ends With Us author Colleen Hoover has recently shared new details about her cancer journey.

While speaking with Jenna Bush Hager, Colleen reveals why she publicly announces her diagnosis.

“There is not hope on the other side and it’s just one of those really scary things where I can sit and talk about my journey all I want,” says the 45-year-old during an appearance on latest episode of On The Open Book with Jenna podcast.

Colleen notes that “if you are going to have cancer, I had it pretty easy and therefore, I didn’t want to talk about it because of that”.

Two months after her diagnosis, Colleen recalls she “got an email from a news outlet that had found out through someone else, and I was like, ‘Oh my gosh. It’s gonna be out there’”.

“So, I just tried to make light of it and made a funny post and stories and really didn’t put a lot of focus on it,” explains the Ugly Love author.

Meanwhile, Colleen didn’t disclose the type of cancer she was diagnosed with.

Elsewhere in the interview, the Verity author discussed her symptoms that led her to cancer diagnosis.

“I passed out a couple of times… I was just not feeling myself. It took a little bit of time to get the diagnosis,” points out Colleen.

The author realises that she had to undergo several surgeries to treat her cancer.

For now, Colleen is focusing on her mental and physical well-being and says that 2026 is her “year of health”.
