The KPop Demon Hunters’ creators are back for another installment.
Following weeks of online buzz, Netflix and Sony Pictures Animation finally revealed that a new part of the fan favorite film is under works.
The forthcoming sequel will be directed again by Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans, with a planned release in 2029, Variety reports.
Reacting to the news, Kang said, “I feel immense pride as a Korean filmmaker that the audience wants more from this Korean story and our Korean characters.”
She added, “There’s so much more to this world we have built and I’m excited to show you. This is only the beginning.”
Alongside this, Appelhans noted that the team has a deep bond with the characters and looks forward to taking them on their next adventure.
However, as per outlet, the story details for the upcoming sequel are still unknown, but the creators hinted at new journeys for the characters.
The announcement also comes at an exciting time for the film as it heads into the Academy Awards with nominations for Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song for Golden.
After debuting on Netflix through a partnership with Sony Pictures Animation, the movie quickly became one of the platform’s biggest successes and built a global fan following.
