Cillian Murphy looked back on his iconic role as Thomas Shelby in Peaky Blinders.

The Irish star lead the award-winning series for almost a decade as ruthless gangster and the head of a Birmingham based violent gang.

The series ended in 2022, with its spin-off film Immortal Man set to release soon. The movie will see Shelby in self-imposed exile amid the chaos of World War II.

In a press interview the Oppenheimer star while reminiscing his time as a Shelby, he said, "I feel really, really proud of the work. It’s nuts that it’s been so long. The end of 2012 is when we shot the original series."

He added, "So many people have watched it, and it’s become so beloved, so I just feel immensely proud of it."

The Oscar winner added that the role is something he will never experience again and that it was "really unusual and gratifying to have that opportunity to play a character like that."

Speaking about his character in the film, Murphy warned the fans that initially he seems to be withdrawn from the world and is dealing with his own personal stuff.

"But I think what setting the film against the backdrop of the war means that his values are being tested all the time," he said.

Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man will release on March 6 in cinema be available on Netflix from 20 March.
