Scott Wolf, who filed for divorce from his wife Kelley Wolf last June, has shared an update on their current situation.
The 57-year-old actor has insisted his family is far from being in an “awful dark place” despite a turbulent year that saw his marriage unravel in public.
The Party of Five star’s separation triggered months of intense media attention and legal drama.
Kelley was placed on an involuntary psychiatric “5150” hold in Utah after concerns raised about her mental health, shortly after the split.
But in a surprising twist, the estranged couple were recently spotted together with their three children, Jackson, 16, Miller, 13, and Lucy, 11 were enjoying a family day out at Universal Studios Hollywood in Los Angeles.
While Everwood actor has not confirmed whether reconciliation is on the cards, he says the most important thing is that the family still cares deeply for one another.
Speaking to People magazine, he admitted he never wanted the painful situation to play out in public but felt the family deserved more than rumours and speculation.
“While I would never have wanted anything to have been made public, it just felt like our family deserved not to sit in some kind of awful dark place in terms of perception,” he explained.
“I love all of those four people and they love each other — that’s what matters most.”
Scott also previously revealed the pair are trying to move forward and focus on healing.
The split has been rocky as the 49-year-old actress was arrested earlier in the year over harassment allegations and later said she planned to enter rehab for treatment.
A court later dismissed a temporary protective order against her, bringing a legal chapter of the dispute to a close.
