Nukhet Duru, a Turkish singing legend continues to enjoy the fruits of a sample she never knew would go global.
During an interview, the 71-year-old crooner stated that she still receives royalty payments from The Weeknd.
This was as a result of the 36-year-old Canadian singer and songwriter to use her song Ben Sana Vurgunum in a hit of 2014 Often.
"The Weeknd keeps sending me money because he used my song in his song 'Often." Duru shared while chatting.
Moreover, she revealed, "I made good money from that."
The Canadian superstar whose real name is Abel Tesfaye, sampled Duru's 1970s classic.
Upon hearing about what Duru's remarks, The Weeknd took to his Instagram Story, sharing what she had said with a short and heartfelt reply, "my pleasure."
The song has since received billions of streams and is multi-platinum across the globe.
Notably, the track received two major awards, including Much Music Video Awards 2015: Best Director and Video of the year and 2015 Boombox Fan Choice Awards: R&B Song of the Year and R&B Video of the Year.
The revelation is presented by the veteran artist after decades of her notable career.
