Cillian Murphy, who is known for his portrayal of the Birmingham gangster Tommy Shelby from Peaky Blinders, is dishing on one of the driving forces behind the massively popular series.

The Oppenheimer star has recently returned as the beloved character in the Tom Harper helmed film Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man which released on March 6.

During a conversation with BBC One's Breakfast, the Academy Award winner reflected on the popularity of the show "There wasn't promotion at the beginning. The show came out, and then very slowly it became this phenomenon, and it was down to the fans.”

"It's a wonderfully humbling thing to know that these fans have such an investment in the characters. And I've always felt like this [movie] is a return on your investment," Cillian stated.

The show’s creator Steven Knight has also dished that things couldn’t have gone better for the series, and that anyone they approach to join the project, actors, music creators are all eager to join the Peaky Blinders universe.

Notably, it seems that the fans are not even close to being done with the storyline of the series or its characters as early reviews of the newly dropped film are overwhelmingly positive as of yet.
