Nicola Coughlan has vociferously condemned the constant attention on her body due to her bare scenes in Bridgerton.

The 39-year-old actress termed the attention as demeaning and even tedious as she spent a lot of time training to play the role.

The Irish star even had dropped the weight and was a size 10 when the film was being shot but the audience still called her a plus size.

“How f*** are we that I am the biggest woman you want to see on screen?” she told ELLE UK.

The experience that Coughlan remembered especially well involved a fan in a bathroom, “she started talking about my body, and I was like, ‘I want to die. I hate this so much,’” she said.

“It’s really hard when you dedicate yourself for months, and then it comes down to what you look like – it’s so f**** boring.”

The star did not either want to be portrayed as an unwanted body-positivity icon. “I have no interest in body positivity.”

She continued, “When I was a kid, I didn’t look at actors and think about their bodies. That’s someone else’s thing. It’s not mine.”

Although fame has its negative aspects, she is thankful to switch careers and roles when moving on to the Netflix hit of Derry Girls into her role of Penelope Featherington.

Notably, Coughlan claimed to be happy when a fan told her that she was not anything like her onscreen.
