Veteran Hollywood star, Maria O Brien, has passed away at the age of 75.

For the unversed, the actress delighted the screens throughout a six-decade career and was the favourite acting coach on Days of Our Lives for 15 years, from 1990 until her retirement in 2022.

The Protocol, starring Goldie Hawn as her co-star, passed away on February 24; however, no cause was revealed.

O'Brien was the daughter of Oscar-winning actor Edmond O'Brien and a musical comedy star, Olga San Juan.

She made her debut appearance in 1963, later featuring in films such as The Incredible Shrinking Woman and Smile.

Guest appearances on Murder She Wrote, L.A. Law and Magnum P.I. gave her television career a breakthrough.

O Brien was a famous stage artist. In 1990, she won a Drama-Logue Award for The Maids.

She went on to become a staple of daytime television operas, coaching actors on Sunset Beach and Passions.

She was an ardent supporter and even appeared before Congress in 1983 to lobby them to fund the study of Alzheimer's in the wake of the open battle of the disease by her father.

Notably, she is survived by three kids, Thomas, Danica and Sean Anderson and a sister, Bridget.
