Michael B. Jordan has emerged victor in one of the most prestigious categories at the esteemed Actor Awards.
The Black Panther star earned an Actor Award for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role for playing twins Smoke and Stack Moore in Ryan Coogler’s Sinners.
It was presented to him by Viola Davis who squealed in joy as soon as she read out the Academy Award nominee’s name.
Michael, who also received a standing ovation as he took the stage to receive the award.
He started off his acceptance speech by saying, “I don’t even know where to begin. I wasn’t expecting this at all, I’m so honored and privileged to be nominated in categories with people and actors and humans that I love…”
The other nominees alongside the 39-year-old were Timothee Chalamet (Marty Supreme), Leonardo DiCaprio (One Battle After Another) Ethan Hawke (Blue Moon) and Jesse Plemons (Bugonia).
Michael recalled getting his SAG-AFTRA card and how much he desired it before he got it, then he thanked his mother Donna for driving him to auditions even while they were financially in a tight spot.
Lastly, the Creed star thanked the director of the film, along with giving shout-outs to fellow cast members and ended his speech with words of humility and gratitude.
