Benny Blanco faced a wave of social-media backlash this week after a moment from the debut episode of his new podcast Friends Keep Secrets went viral.

Some viewers mocked his apparent lack of personal hygiene and urged his wife, Selena Gomez, to reconsider their marriage.

According to Page Six, the controversy began when Blanco appeared barefoot on camera during the podcast’s first episode, co-hosted with rapper Lil Dicky and Kristin Batalucco.

Viewers noticed what looked like dirt on the soles of his feet, and some fans responded with harsh comments online, including suggestions that Gomez should divorce him over the perceived “filthy feet.”

On Jimmy Kimmel Live! Thursday night, Blanco took on the topic head-on. 

When host Jimmy Kimmel teased him about the viral moment, Blanco defended himself, saying the conditions on set, not poor hygiene, were to blame. 

As per the outlet, he even removed his shoe and sock to reveal a clean foot, drawing applause from the studio audience.

Lil Dicky backed up Blanco’s explanation, noting that crew activity on the first filming day likely led to the dust and dirt on the studio floor. 

Moreover, Kimmel joked that Blanco should start an OnlyFans for his feet, a quip that Blanco enthusiastically embraced.

The light-hearted exchange highlighted the humorous tone Blanco is aiming for with Friends Keep Secrets, even amid unexpected criticism. 

While some fans clung to the “divorce” calls, Gomez has publicly shown support for her husband, sharing affectionate moments with him on social media following the episode’s release.
