Delroy Lindo is ready to reclaim the spotlight at the 32nd Annual Actor Awards this Sunday, just a week after an unforgettable and controversial moment at the Baftas.
The 73-year-old veteran Hollywood actor faced an awkward incident when a Tourette’s sufferer in the audience involuntarily shouted a racial slur during his award presentation alongside Michael B. Jordan.
Despite the uncomfortable moment, Delroy is set to present at the Los Angeles ceremony, streaming live on Netflix at 8pm ET from the Shrine Auditorium.
He will join a star-studded line-up including Gwyneth Paltrow, Jenna Ortega, Odessa A’zion, Viola Davis, Andy Garcia and SAG-AFTRA president Sean Astin.
Reportedly, the evening will be hosted by Kristen Bell, with Harrison Ford receiving the prestigious SAG-AFTRA Life Achievement Award.
Delroy’s Bafta ordeal was caused by 54-year-old John Davidson, who suffers from coprolalia.
It's a rare symptom of Tourette’s that triggers involuntary obscene outburst that left many shocked.
The slur was broadcast despite a two-hour delay, prompting a BBC apology and widespread condemnation from Hollywood, including Jamie Foxx, who called the incident “unacceptable under any circumstances.”
Sinners actor expressed frustration that neither Bafta nor the organisers had warned him or Michael about the audience member’s condition.
